We are Lewei Precision specialized in the field of Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) to provide precision-engineered parts with unmatched precision. It is an advanced procedure that involves regulated electrical releases to make complex forms and contours in metal. The release is between two electrodes that are submerged in dielectric fluid, which is a precise and effective method of melting and vaporizing the material.
The peculiarity of Wire EDM is that it is capable of working with complex geometries and materials which are challenging to machine using old technology. It also works well on machining of heat-treated steels, superalloys and hard metals and is capable of producing tight tolerances and finer details, including small holes and narrow cut edges, and fine lines. Our services are ideal in those industries that require high precision such as in aerospace, automobile and mold making. Our technicians are those who combine the best of the state of the art technology with the use of the Wire EDM to make each part the best. Lewei Precision is a company that is certified ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485 and IATF 16949, and it confirms our desire to focus on quality and accuracy in any project.
In Lewei Precision, we have the promise to provide parts of the highest quality. Advanced equipment like Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) are used to check the Dimensional Accuracy of our components to ensure that all components are made to your specifications. This accuracy is essential in any industry where reliability and accuracy are important e.g. aerospace, automotive and production of medical devices. With the help of the latest equipment, we ensure that every component is produced to fit to your exact specifications.
Alongside dimensional controls, we also do Tolerance Verification which is to make sure that every part meets the stringent requirements of ISO and ASME. We do not simply inspect our Surface and Finish Testing, and we carefully measure the surface finishes and the thicknesses of coating to guarantee the reliable and constant results. This overall quality control procedure enables us to produce parts of high surface integrity and uniform finish that gives you the quality parts to work on your projects.
Machining Works
In wire EDM machining (Wire Electrical Discharge), a thin wire, precisely guided by computer systems, passes through a workpiece submerged in deionized water. Acting as both guide and electrode, the wire uses controlled electrical discharges to cut conductive materials with high accuracy, producing parts with finely finished surfaces that rarely need additional processing. Lewei’s state-of-the-art facilities ensure that even the most intricate designs are machined with precision, demonstrating our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
The first step is to firmly secure the workpiece onto the EDM machine’s worktable, making sure it stays completely stationary. The surface is then carefully cleaned and degreased to eliminate any contaminants. It is essential that the workpiece material is conductive, since wire EDM relies on a conductive medium to operate effectively.
Next, a fine metal wire is threaded through the machine’s guides while both the wire and workpiece are submerged in a dielectric fluid, typically deionized water. An electrical voltage is applied, causing the fluid to ionize and permitting an electrical discharge (spark) to occur, gradually eroding the surface of the workpiece.
The final step involves accurately controlling the wire’s motion using a computer numerical control (CNC) system. The CNC directs the wire along a defined path, allowing it to cut intricate shapes and profiles into the workpiece. The dielectric fluid circulates continuously to clear debris and regulate temperature during cutting. After completion, the workpiece is extracted, producing a high-quality, precisely finished part.
Lewei Precision’s Wire EDM services accurately machine a variety of conductive materials, including hardened steels and superalloys, delivering precise, durable components for critical applications.
